Pep Guardiola believes that Saturday’s visit of high-flying Leicester will present one of the toughest challenges of the season.

The Etihad encounter, which kicks-off at 5.30pm, pits the Premier League’s second and third placed sides together with Leicester emerging as one of the big success stories of the season so far.

However, speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s eagerly anticipated encounter, Guardiola said that Leicester’s formidable run of form under Rodgers this term had come as no surprise to him.

“They are working really well and not just this season,” the City manager declared.

“The way they buy players, the manager… they have the quality and that is the result. They have lost important players (in Harry Maguire) but the guy who replaced him is doing really well.

“They are doing well offensively and defensively

“They are also a threat not just on the counter-attack but when they play and one team sits back, they have the quality to attack them.

“If you want to be a team you have to attack when teams sit back and since Brendan Rodgers took over, they do that.”
