A look at the numbers behind Erling Haaland and Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s phenomenal starts to the 2022/23 campaign.

The forwards currently lead the scoring charts in both the Premier League and Barclays Women’s Super League, while their exploits have also translated onto a European setting.

Indeed, despite City’s exit from the UEFA Women’s Champions League at the hands of Real Madrid, Shaw grabbed two goals in as many games, while Haaland’s current tally stands at five strikes in four matches in the men’s competition.

While all of our Manchester City sides’ successes are built on a collective ethos, it’s safe to say that the pair have been two of our standout performers so far.

Below is a breakdown of some of their most impressive scoring stats to date this season.

Projected goals

Haaland and Shaw’s current tallies stand at an astonishing 22 goals in 16 matches and seven goals in six matches respectively.

But if those scoring rates were to continue across the entire campaign, those figures could reach unprecedented levels.

To put each of their current scoring rates into context, if they were to feature in every possible fixture remaining this season, then Shaw’s final haul would stand at 58 goals in 35 matches, while Haaland’s would read 86 in 63!

Domestic delight

Both strikers boast incredible records on a domestic front so far this season.

Shaw is currently averaging 1.38 goals per 90 minutes for City in the WSL at a rate of one every 65 minutes.

The Jamaican has also found the net five times from just seven shots on target and 15 overall, leaving her with a conversion rate of 33%.

And the figures are equally impressive from Haaland, whose tally of 17 in 11 matches is currently earning him an average of 54 minutes per goal.

That equates to 1.65 goals per 90 minutes, with a conversion rate of 41%.
