City in the Community (CITC) NY, the foundation proudly supported by New York City FC, has begun an exciting project with the global leader in intelligent humanoid robots to help teach 9-14 year-old New Yorkers computer coding skills using a unique mix of programmable robots and soccer specific activities.
Forty-six public schools and community-based programs across the five boroughs will benefit from this new initiative, which will give over 1,300 pupils the unique opportunity to explore topics such as research technologies, software usage, design and writing programs, and logic and reasoning.
This builds on the successful partnership between UBTECH and City in the Community (CITC) Manchester which has engaged over 1,760 young people in Manchester in the last 12 months.
“We are delighted to team up with UBTECH to offer this innovative football and robotics programme,” said Head of City in the Community New York, Paul Jeffries.
“To be able to use the power of football to inspire and educate children both on and off the pitch is something that City in the Community is immensely proud of, and to have the support of UBTECH in helping us achieve this is fantastic for the foundation and young people in New York City.”

In the future, UBTECH will explore opportunities to reach out to more students and teachers, and to enrich the program with more sophisticated content for different ages.
