Nick Cushing has been denied the services of seven players during the opening weeks of the campaign, with Pauline Bremer, Lauren Hemp, Georgia Stanway and Demi Stokes all having spells on the sideline, while Karen Bardsley, Laura Coombs and Ellen White have suffered injuries which have ruled them out for prolonged periods.

City have been unaffected, however, clocking up seven wins from seven games and Weir, with five goals, has been one of the standout performers coming into this week’s Champions League last 16 tie with Atletico Madrid.
It’s been a fine start in less than ideal circumstances, but the Scotland international is adamant injuries have not affected the squad’s mentality.
“I don’t think we’ve felt under pressure,” she said.
“We’ve got good depth in the squad and top players across the whole team. There’s very experienced players and some good young players as well.
“We have a job to do and everyone knows what they have to do.
“We have a squad of good players, so I don’t think anyone is feeling the pressure in that way.”
Weir and co. will be hoping to carry their momentum from the opening weeks of the campaign into Wednesday evening’s clash with Atletico.
It’s a tie which conjures painful memories, with the Spanish outfit eliminating us in the Round of 32 last season, but Weir echoed the sentiments of Cushing and Steph Houghton to declare revenge will not be a factor in this latest meeting.
Though what she will admit, is that last years’ experience has made her more determined than ever to taste success on the European stage.
“Yeah, it’s made us hungry,” added the 24-year-old.
“I think any player would say the same. It was disappointing last year.
“We want to go far in the Champions League this year and we’ve got a good, strong squad to do that. We’re mentally strong and determined to get a good result against Atletico.
“They’re a top side. Technically they are so strong. They’re one of the best sides in Europe. We know what we’re up against, we learnt that the hard way last year.
“We played them in pre-season and gave them a good test. The squad is in a slightly different place this year and we’re looking forward to it.”
