De Bruyne goes into the vote on the back of a mesmerising performance against Wolves where he scored a career-best four goals.
The Belgian won the award in 2019 and can become only fourth player to win the prize twice if he is successful.
With 15 goals and seven assists so far this campaign, KDB is in with a chance of emulating Nemanja Vidic, Cristiano Ronaldo and Thierry Henry who were all double winners.
Joao Cancelo has also enjoyed a superb season for City.
With the most minutes played of any City player in the Premier League, one goal and seven assists, the Portuguese has earned his place among the division’s best.
The winner will be announced at 11am on 21 May.
