Pep Guardiola preview

Pep Guardiola will assess Jack Grealish’s fitness before making a decision on whether to select him for Manchester City’s game against Paris Saint-Germain.

The midfielder missed the 3-0 victory over Everton after returning from the international break with an injury, but the City boss says his condition has significantly improved.

Guardiola will be without Kevin De Bruyne for the second consecutive game as he continues to self-isolate following a positive COVID-19 test.

Ahead of the visit of Mauricio Pochettino’s men, the Catalan admitted several players are carrying niggles and said he will wait until Wednesday’s final training session before deciding who will feature at the Etihad Stadium.

“Jack is much better,” Guardiola told journalists at his pre-match press conference.

“[There are] some niggles for some players. Tomorrow we have the last training session and we will decide then who will play.

“Unfortunately, Kevin is not available.

“I don’t know [when his isolation period ends]. We will do another PCR test and then hopefully it will be negative and he will be back.”

City make three changes for tonight’s Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain.

Ruben Dias, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Riyad Mahrez all come into the starting line up.

From the side that began against Everton on Sunday, Aymeric Laporte and Cole Palmer revert to the bench while Phil Foden is not fully fit for selection.

Kevin De Bruyne is still unavailable for selection whilst he continues to self-isolate following a positive COVID-19 test.

Jack Grealish is also ruled out as he is still not fuly after returning from the international break with an injury.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before a Rodrigo thunderbolt doubled our advantage before the hour.

Bernardo Silva rounded off the scoring late on, but there was still enough time for James McAtee to make his Premier League debut off the bench against the Toffees.

Pep Guardiola’s men were edged out in the French capital in our last meeting with PSG, which took place on Matchday Two of our Champions League Group A campaign.

Idrissa Gueye handed the hosts the advantage at Le Parc des Princes inside eight minutes with an emphatic drive.

And despite City having the Parisians on the back foot for the majority of the match, Lionel Messi grabbed his first PSG goal in spectacular fashion with 15 to play to double Mauricio Pochettino’s men’s advantage.

Victory at home to Everton on Sunday means City come into the tie off the back of three successive victories in all competitions.

In that time, Pep Guardiola’s men have found the net on nine occasions and conceded just once in victories over the Toffees, Manchester United and Club Brugge respectively.

It means we currently sit top of Group A in the Champions League and second in the Premier League table, three points off the summit.

PSG are one point and one place behind City after drawing 2-2 with RB Leipzig in their last European outing.
