The City boss has resisted the opportunity to make wholesale changes in our previous two fixtures in the competition, though he did give youngsters a chance off the bench against both Swindon Town and Fulham.
Goater believes Guardiola will take a similar approach at the Weston Homes Stadium on Tuesday, particularly as several senior players would benefit from minutes after recent spells on the side line.
“We always respect the opposition,” he said on a recent edition of Matchday Live.
“Pep will put out a team that is still a strong team and that wants to advance.
“The best way to deal with the derby is to win the game in front of you. You have to win that game first.
“Players that come to mind are [Kyle] Walker, Nathan Ake, Gabriel Jesus and [Jack] Grealish. I think these guys will be getting a good 50-60 minutes.
“The best way to go into that derby is to get a good result, even though it’s the FA Cup, and go into it with two good results under your belt.”
City have lifted the FA Cup once under Guardiola and have made the semi-finals on three occasions.
It is a trophy, along with the Carabao Cup, that the Catalan and his players have always treated with the utmost respect and Goater is full of admiration for our approach to the world’s oldest cup competition.
“What I like about the FA Cup is, the under-dog team has the opportunity to play against teams like City and have that feeling of what it’s like to play against world class players,” he added.
“City players go out there and give it everything and say, ‘if you’re playing against me, this is what it’s like’.
“You may have to chase the ball for a few minutes to try and win it back and then we have got quality players that can go up there and score goals.
“I think the FA Cup is great. It’s a brilliant trophy.”
