HIGHLY REGARDED AMERICAN GOALKEEPER

Regarded as one of the outstanding goalkeeping talents in America, Zach Steffen joined City in the summer of 2019 on a four-year deal from American side Columbus Crew SC.

Voted the MLS Allstate Goalkeeper of the Year 2018 after keeping 10 clean sheets, Zack subsequently spent the 2019/20 season on loan with German side Fortuna Dusseldorf.

He went on to make 17 appearances in the Bundlesliga, furthering his reputation as one of the game’s most promising young goalkeepers.

The current United States first choice keeper, Zach has won 17 caps at full international level to date.

Having shone at College in the United States, playing with Maryland Terrapins, Zach subsequently began his professional career with Freiburg II, playing 14 times for the German side before moving to MLS side Columbus in 2016.

He went on help the Crew reach the MLS play-offs in both 2017 and 2018.

Zack made 12 appearances during his first season with City, including playing in the Carabao Cup final victory over Tottenham.

The USA No.1 added another nine appearances in 2021/22, featuring in the Community Shield and FA Cup semi-final along the way.

He will spend the 2022/23 season on loan at Championship club Middlesbrough.
